Dupont Paris dedicates a Haute Création edition based on the Le Grand Dupont to the clearest season of the year. White, nuanced blue, and the cool elegance of palladium combine to create a collector’s piece whose expression lies in the balance of its details.
On the front, delicate Japanese plum blossoms exude a quiet presence. Embedded in shades of white and blue, they add a subtle accent to a wintry composition. On the back, Mount Fuji rises against a wintry sky. The encounter between delicate blossoms and a majestic landscape lends the creation an unmistakable rhythm that balances lightness and permanence.
The surface derives its special expressiveness from the traditional Japanese Choshitsu lacquer technique. Numerous layers of differently colored lacquer are applied and then meticulously carved out by hand. The interplay of these layers creates a sculptural structure with remarkable depth. The design is conveyed not only through color, but also through relief, contour, and the play of light.
Under the supervision of Japanese lacquer art master Yoshito Yamashita, this tradition of craftsmanship meets the precise design language of S.T. Dupont. The palladium finish echoes the cool clarity of the design, while the characteristic diamond-head guilloché creates a finely textured contrast to the artful lacquered surface.
